I received a rancid jar, that not only tasted horrible but made me sick. They claimed they tested the batch but I don’t see how nut butter can turn rancid during transport - in fact I’ve cooked with nut butters and heat does not turn it rancid (nor does freezing for that matter). I am very familiar with rancid nuts as I’ve been making my own nut butters for 20 years - it was very clearly rancid could even tell from the smell.
Customer service interrogated me first and denied the possibility, then had me package up the jar and go to purolator just to get a refund. No replacement was offered, which suggests to me that they either don’t stand by the quality of their products, or didn’t want to cover the tiny shipping cost to send me the product I ordered in proper condition. I was not refunded any part of the initial shipping cost either. I was really excited to become a regular customer, but it is just not worth the hassle nor the risk, especially at this very high price. I will be making my own nut butters in the vitamix.
